I play the quints in band, and I was just wondering where a good place to buy a heavy-hitter quadropad online was...

Also...what types of sticks I would use on them and if the laminates are any good...

You can buy a heavy hitter pad pretty much at any online store that sells marching percussion equipment. I got mine on samash.com. If you go to vicfirth.com and find the heavy hitter pads it has a button that says buy now and has a list of all the places you can buy them.

I would suggest using any type of snare sticks on the pad. I like using Colin McNutts or Ralph Hardimons.

And although I do not have the laminates nor have I used them, i've heard that they help immensly in making the pad the most realistic.

I'm definitely going to get one now. It seems like it would really help my technique because I will be practicing on a pad that has the drums in all the right places...

One more thing:

What kind of stand would you use to play on it cause I have a concert snare stand at my house. Or would I be better off just putting it on a table or counter-top?

I bought mine at percussion source for $110, $20 cheaper than Musician's Friend.

The pad is made out of gum rubber, so when you scrape, the sticks "stick" to the pad, So I got laminates. laminates are a definate must if you want to do any sort of productive scrapes.

I use a pair of vic firth scojo tenor sticks. Mallets like MT1A have no rebound, like hitting concrete with them.

If your school or whatever program you play with uses large tenors (10, 12, 13, 14) get the large pad, but if they use 8, 10, 12 13, get the small

It didn't fit on my snare stand, so I ended up getting a keyboard stand, and it's perfect, but a table or counter top is good too.

So, I would get:
Large Pad,
Laminates for Large Pad,
keyboard stand (you can get one for $20 at guitar center)
ScoJo Vega tenor sticks

oh, it is not black like in the picture.. it's purple.

oh the spock pads have to be attached, so if you get the large, and want quints, just use one, but for six you can use both... same way with the small pad

Just bought it at Steve Weiss. It was about 10 dollars less there with the laminates than at Sam Ash without the laminates...

I'll post when I get it...I actually might need help to putting the laminates on >.<

My snare stand worked when I put it on it, so it may or may not, just depends on the brand. Go ahead and try it though, easier than finding a good size table.

I also got mine from Steve Weiss. I use Vegas on mine without laminates. I just place mine on the desk in my room on top of my slim pad and it is at about the right height.

also, if you were in percussion in middle school the bell kit stand works pretty well
