As everyones stated, Texas is probably the big dog band state, followed by California.

i would have to say california based upon my experience in terms of overall bands, but texas i must say has some exceptional bands at a highschool level that rival even certain drum corps

Sweet....that makes me feel better about my band....last year at the Texas state marching contest (3A) we got 14th. Yeah we got 8th, and 6th the time before that. That darn Canton keeps winning. But to stay on topic of best state,I would have to agree with Texas. Just look at the BOA results Insomniac posted. It's proof. Plus...I just love Texas

Alabama...not so much (of course there are some good bands). We dont even have a state circuit. i have to agree. i live i Alabama also. there's not a lot of big dog bands around here, or atleast from my experience the past 2 years, but there are some good ones. some that come to mind are Grason (sp?) Valley and Russelville High School. and also like Jofus said we don't even have a state circuit so.

I'd also love to say Florida because that's where I live but sadly that's not the case. Yes Tarpon Springs is a great program, their BD is a former Suncoast member (was drum major there when I marched) and designed for Magic as well. He's also a really great guy. But one great program doesn't speak for the whole state. Yes there are other great bands here but just not a lot of them. Marching just doesn't seem to be a high priority for most BDs down here.
I'd have to say Texas is the best state for high school marching bands. A lot of great programs with a lot of consistency over the years. California would be second in my book but I give them the edge in indoor. Cali also has some sick junior college programs. Almost makes it worth putting up with crime, pollution and earthquakes (just kidding).
