Does anyone have a problem with their Innovative mallet heads just falling off? Our drumline tried out the Innovative Percussion FBX bass mallets, and almost all of them are falling off. The bass line for the most part uses pretty good technique, and stuff. I'm just wondering what the problem might be as to why they keep comming off at random. We started using them at the begenning of the school year, they have been through rain and stuff, but so did the VF mallets we used before these, and we didn't have that problem.

Anyone have problems like this with these mallets?

Bingo.

Take better care of your equipment, including mallets.

i think that VF mallets are the way to go but tory is right. keep beeter care of your stuff and you see the benefits. IP mallets should really be just fine, a lot of lines use them

I used IP FBX's all last summer and again this winter and none of us had that problem.

i have been using these mallets for 5 years now. the fact is, they need to be replaced at least every year, due to normal wear and tare. when these mallets get left in the rain the heads get waterlogged and loose their hardness, and even begin to fall apart, which would def. cause them to fall off. another thing might be the screw in the head of the mallet might be too small, sometimes they use the screws for the 1s or 2s for the 4s or 5s, so that could be it too. but overall that is a great mallet, one of the best, if not the best.

both my high school bassline and indy line use these mallets by the mass orders and have yet to have a problem with the beads just falling off.

your drumline will probably have to do like ours did and use gorrila glue and screws in the top of the head of the mallet straight down into the wood. but then again we had pro-mark at that time..........promark usually hold up though ours were warrped

***Greetings, I'm a noob to this message board and instead of taking the post of a moderator, I instead tried to yell at him. What's most impressive is that at no time did I add anything to the conversation since I was talking about Pro Mark mallets and this is a thread about Innovative Percussion mallets.***

I use Innovatives and I have had a couple of mallets where the screw loosens and falls out, eventually leading to the head coming off, along with our bass six's mallet head pulling over the screw and falling off without the screw loosening(probably because of the wrong size screw as previously stated). If they do, use glue or a larger screw maybe? I usually just get new ones so I don't have to deal with the hassle.
