I bought tama octobons 3 years ago for my drumset. there both 6" and i was wondering if i cut them cause there like 1 foot long, could i use them butt spock drums for my tenors?

We did that this year at my school actually!

We cut the octabans to the right length and then flipped over the tenors and laid the octaban on the floor in the general area of where it should be and decided where to drill and all and did it that way.

The octabans are holding up really well actually... Just the lug casings aren't... You'll go to tune it and a lug casing will pop. That's my only complaint with it I guess. Not much different I suppose. As long as it's 6" and you cut it to a good length =-)

If you think about it, tenor spocks are made to be cranked 9 levels past annoying, octobans are meant to be tuned high, but not that high. I think it would be the same money-wise to just buy a replacement Spock/s than have to buy replacements parts from tension problems. Unless you just want to see if it will work. LOL
