This past weekend I finally got World Gone Mad's (senior corps) snare / tenor combos built. We use Yamaha quads with XL rails, and mounted a 10" Pearl firecracker snare as the quint. Works just fine - whole set seems to be stable, and all is well.

in either 2002 or 2003 the cavaliers had snare units mounted in their drum 3. It just gives a different sound. They did that with bass 1 too.

But ive never heard of this, it sounds like a sweet concept. Only downfall would be if you have a large band and the 4 quint players could balance with the rest of the ensemble. But still a cool idea

Cavies did this in '92 on bass 1 and 2. It was just for certain effect during a small part of the drum solo. Essentially, it was rigged so you turn a small screw and the snares would lay against the inside of the head. Real easy to turn on and off.

I'm not sure what you think is false, but I have seen those cavies drums up close.. it was the 02, 03.. they had snares in the bottom two drums.. then turned them on like a snare muffler.

well then they served absolutely no purpose. if can see or hear them in ANY of the lot vids then how would someone hear them on the field? therefore...your story is complete bull.

Friendly suggestion-

Tread lightly if you're going to challenge a moderator's knowledge, especially if it's someone who pays as much attention to the activity as multi-thomm does.

Just because you can't see or hear stuff doesn't mean it wasn't there. DVD's often don't capture the little nuances in shows that make the live performances so amazing.

I have a lawn mower in my garage that hasn't worked in two years, therefore, it serves no purpose. According to your rationalization, the mower does not exist even though I see it every day.

Listen, I don't think Kuhn and his guys would have done anything with their lines unless it served some sort of purpose. As stated earlier, just because you didn't hear it or see it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
