Almost every single one of my relatives have graduated from Bowling Green State University, and were in the marching band. This past Saturday I went to see Bowling Green play against Temple. But my family and I really went to see the band.
They (the band) warms up outside the stadium and invites people to come watch. I got there and, wow, have they changed. They used to be a very old-fashioned band, with buzzbees, old percussion equipment, etc. But they got a really nice make-over. The band has amazing new uniforms (with shakos), and the percussion has new brown-wrapped
Dynasty drums with Black Max heads (at least for the snares). I arrived just as the percussion started to play their cadence series. And wow. I had never heard them sound so good. The cymbals were jamming, and the overall atmosphere was much more corps-like if I can make the comparison. It was much more professional.
I wish I could have gotten video, but the drumline, and the band overall, sounded and looked great. I really wouldn't mind going to BG now like my parents, aunts, and uncles before me. I just thought I would get on and tell ya'll about it if anyone is looking for bands, or just has the time to check them out.
"Right up in there!"
