I think a few replies have summed up what I'm about to say, but...
Marching is a team effort. One player can't win a competition alone. In a drumline you get a feeling of camaraderie with your linemates. You rely on each other, you carry each other, and it's just an amazing feeling when that group of people comes together and manages to win something.
Playing kit can be fun too, but marching will always be my number one.

marching is so much more technical and has so much room for expansion. you start with a piece of music, learn it add visuals add it to the band and work with the band learning movements until the finished product is near perfect. Marching wins period...
