dont take off the outer covering. I'm not familiar with the pad, but moongels are sticky and get dirty easily. That plastic is there for a reason.

It's a plank of wood and then the moongel stuff on top of it. So from my understanding is isn't floppy, CrashCrimson.

Actually to completely contradict myself, the pad is floppy, haha. Sorry. The pics I saw totally gave me the impression it was on a plank of wood. But it's not. You have to sit it on something. I saw one tonight at a friend's house. So, sorry for being so dumb, haha.

this website says that the smaller 7" one comes with the base. so it's basically a practice pad. But the 14" one is just the gel which you place on top of a snare drum.
