Hola fellow DLOer's! Well here's the deal, I've been
wanting to buy some tenors for my personnal practice(im tired of my pad), and also to use for my school's drumline since im the only tenor. Anyways, I'm trying to decide between the Articulates and the Championships. I'm aware that the articulates are for indoor use ,but they cost less than the championships and it doesn't look like there's that much of a difference between them other than the depth. So would yall use the articulates as an outdoor set? those of you that have does it sound the same or is there a considerable difference? also is there a difference in the rims or any other hardware on the arts.? farewell for now

There is no difference between the articulite tenors and the championship series except the depth and price.

If you're looking for a practice set, the articulites will be just fine.

A lot of hs programs purchase the articulite model for weight issues on younger students and have no trouble with projection or clarity on the field.

I'm not a huge fan of Pearl's extra-deep tenors and the thought had actually crossed my mind to look into the Articulites for indoor/outdoor use. Good to know it's being done elsewhere already with decent results.

actually both are the same price new.

case in point

deep shells
http://www.westcoastdrums.com/pechsemato.html

articulites
http://www.westcoastdrums.com/pechsearmato.html

i agree with the rest its more of a personal preferance

the shorter shells, are less "tubby" but still have that Pearl sound, like Yamaha mixed with Pearl.

i like the deeps a little better. but there is a place in my heart for the articulites.

By "tubby" do you mean resonant? and I think I'm leaning toward the articulates right now ,but not for sure.

Out of curiosity, I just looked at music123.com and compared Championships to Articulites. The Articulites were actually more expensive, but just barely.

For a small-block set of quints, Championship series drums were $685.99 and Articulites were $686.99. For a large block set, the prices went up to $737.99 and $739.99.

Wow...they must have changed their prices because i was going to buy a set of tenors like 3 months ago and the indoors were cheaper

At musicians friend they are cheaper if you are buying black. But if you buy white its just as expensive. If u want black its 950$ and if u get white its 999$.I'd say go to the classified section of DLO becuase someone is selling toms with a harness for about 900 dollars.
