Just wondering which mallets you guys like the best...Also what kind of sticks do you use/like to use on tenor drums.
Right now we use the Shawn Vega tenor sticks, and MT1A'a, but the sticks break all the time, and as for the mallets, well, I just don't like the way they sound.
It's about time to start making a "wish list" for next season's equipmwent, and our budget here at ECU (shameless plug) is very ample , so just pretend like you could have anything you want, and that you were going to be playing on pinstripes and then post your "wish list."
btw, about the pinstripes, I'm not a fuddy-duddy, I just got used to the way they tune, and if you can convince me other-wise we might switch.

All of the Vic Firth tenor mallets MT's in aluminum are great. I've also used the wood shaft ones - they are heavier, and project with a slightly deeper sound. I haven't played them to their full potential though, because I had to pay for them and I was afraid to break them. Since your budget is "ample", I would suggest getting all of the Vic Firth aluminum models - http://www.vicfirth.com/product/corpstenor.htmlgot to the website to see the descriptions.

Yeah i love Vicfirht mallets i own my own set that i have bought and i also freak out about breaking them. but after enough use i let them go alittle. MT4's are nice but you have to like the cookie head. The vegas are very nice drumstick feel with a tenor head. Never tried the hardimon tenor sticks but im hoping to. If i had to choose i would go with Vicfirth mallets. MTA-1 so they last longer, MT4, Puffies, Felts, dreads, Vegas, and hardimon snare sticks.

i like the mt1a's, i havent tried any of the tenor sticks, but i'd like to. i really like the sound the mike balter lexan tenor mallets give. on the evans mx heads, its a nice glassy ice type sound..i dont know how else to describe it... it can pack a punch too. if i had 3 sets of tenor sticks it'd be the balters, the mt1a's and a set of felt ones for quieter stuff.
i'd like to try ALL tenor sticks and marching sticks period...but that could take a while to try out.
