i know casey claw was by mark casey(i learn a lot from other threads :P) and hulka helicopter is just the claw with two hands. i think the claw was first used in dc in 95 cavies...not sure about that. Three way backsticking, i thought that was by jeff queen, but i am probably wrong.

anything else i havent even heard of. Theres a 6way backstick? and i didnt even know you can rol with backsticking....

My guess with the HULKA helicopter is that it may have been invented by our very own HULKA....

Mark Casey invented the Casey Claw as insanejin said, and I believe came up with the idea in '92. The first time the claw was played by a line was '93 by the University of Kentucky indoor line. The first corps to play it was the '94 Cavaliers.

The Hulka Helicopter was indeed invented by yours truly in '93. I laugh at the "invented" part because Casey did the hard part coming up with the claw... all I did was think "hey, why can't it be done with two hands?".

The stick-on-stick stuff is older than most people think and I won't even venture to guess when and by whom it was invented.

Backsticking variations... I have no idea.

Backsticking was brought to drum corps in 1959 by the Skyliners, I believe.

Well, almost right.

Backsticking was actually introduced by the 1958 Air Force Quartet. Just thought I'd update on that little tidbit.

Ahh, yes, thats right. I knew that it was around that time period. I don't know what made me think the Skyliners.

Heh heh, now you know!

It's also quite odd that the Air Force Quartet wasn't actually a quartet.

When did backsticking start to be incorporated into rolls? When was there a change from the "old-school" style of backsticking (which is more of a vertical motion) to the "new-school" style of backsticking (which is more of a slicing motion)?
