A DLO exclusive!

As a DCI Season Pass subscriber I just got an exclusive notification from DCI regarding the location of the World Championships in 2007. Without further adieu, the official location is... (drum roll please)... the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

From the Tournament of Champions in '04 I understand there were some complaints that the field not being real close to the seats but overall I think this is a great decision. However, I am interested in seeing how DCI will address the fact that many corps will have a hard time affording the long trek to the west coast. The only thing I can think they are planning is to subsidize some of the costs involved in getting a corps out there. After the full public announcement is made perhaps details such as this will be brought to light.

YES!
Thank goodness I'm a UCLA student (with senior friends who have cars)!
I'll finally have a chance to see the world championships..but wow. I didn't know they'd make this kind of decision so early.
That's also a good point Hulka, I certainly hope it doesn't end up with mostly western Corps (not that there's anything bad about them, I'm just a big fan of the Cavaliers and Madison Scouts)

I don't think it will end up mostly western corps at all. Besides, I live right down the 14 freeway from Pasadena. (I know none of you know what I'm talking about) This is good, I plan on going. Well, I hope to be IN Champs that year, but we'll see.

you know... TOC didnt stop any of the non cali corps from going, they had the option to say no. my theiery is the TOC was used to test which stadiums were the best venues for drum corps. the ONLY thing wrong withthe rose bowl is the distance to the stands, San diego had more problems, as did San Jose... the rose bowl has plently of lot spaec plently of seating, entrances and exits will be simple, It will be a GREAT place. Though with the West coast, a small rise in dies is expected, I dont think more than 1-200 a member ( thats another 110,000 in the bank for a 110 member corps ( the smallest in D1 last year... and I believe ther is a plan to help the smaller corps( d2/3out)

Golf? Whaaa?

If they plan the regular season right, then it may not be so bad if the tour made the corps end up in the west coast in August...

but the "Eastern Classic" has always been the last regional before finals.

I hope they don't change the date of that.

Of course, this comes right after I told my parents "Even if I make DCI next year, Finals will be pretty close. They won't hold Finals all the way out on the West Coast."

I can't wait for finals to be on the "Best Coast". We really should have a golf outing on one of the days before finals. I got a couple of hook-ups at some nice courses.

Well, I'm old so count me in for the golf outing. I'm not any good but I do have a good time playing.

When I found out about the DCI meeting this past weekend being held in Pasadena the first thing I thought about was that was probably a good indication that the powers-that-be wanted to hold finals at the Rose Bowl.

The one thing I like about the championship, is that it is always moved around the country. Everyone is able to see it at least sometime near them and would not have to travel very far. I'm glad that it's in Madison this year being an Illinois'n. Hope its a good show in '07!!!

It makes me happy that DCI is finally going to have finals on this side of the US... Its sweet that here in Arizona we only get one show a year and the only corps that come that are any good are BD and SCV... oh and of course The Academy. It just stinks that my favorite corps, the cavies, has recently gotten rid of its drumline staff and hired Jim Casella... This stinks cuz thats why l loved the cavies; l loved the way they played and their technique... yay l finally get to see the cavies l have loved for so long, but they wont look nothing like the corps lve loved for so many years and they never will again... crap that sucks bad.... guess ill have to go watch bluecoats then.

Now its about time to have a finals week in Texas, or at least the mid-west... as soon as we get a few decent corps going besides Revo.

Yeah, for real! DCI needs to get off their butts and have Finals in the Midwest for a change! They could have it in Madison, WI or something. It's time for a change!

You have a good shot at it since BD aged out 3 of the 4 tenors this year. Somehow I have a feeling ScoJo and Vega won't have to worry too much about finding people with mad chops to fill the spots though.

I have seen the rose Bowl. How good of a place would it be? It doesnt seem very 'drum corps' friendly. And kind of on the small side.

Hi. Welcome to the United States. We have two coasts seperated by 3000 miles worth of mainland. Yes, there are states on the eastern side of the Mississipi river.

Let me ask you, have you visited New York City, Key West, Florida, Washington D.C. ...? Why not? Thankyou.

Your perception is very narrow minded.
