Don't be ashamed, Philly's awesome. Even if our professional sports teams don't like winning national championships. But I live in DC now, so how sweet was it when the Flyers beat the Caps?

Dave, you should be ashamed.

Philly fans are some of the most obnoxious, violent, unsportsmanlike and just all out rude fans the NFL has to offer. They boo santa. Beat up our official "Unofficial" mascot, spit, throw things on people. Heck, the Vet was the only stadium in the NFL that had holding cells. That should tell you it all right there.

The only thing Philly has to offer is cheesesteaks. And you can get them anywhere now. I mean really, they idolize a fictional character. The world could have done without Rocky.

Ouch...I will say to you this however...when talking of cheesesteaks, please refrain from looping those "things" you call cheesesteaks in with the real deal. I never knew that it was against the rules to root for your team...I can almost guarantee that most of those "unsportsmanlike" issues you speak of are usually brought on by the "unsportsmanlike" play of the player whom is in question. Oh, and on the santa thing, he deserved it. I believe that the thing was the guy that was in the santa costume if you felt like doing some digging.

Sorry for the length of this post but I have to defend myself and my fellow Philadelphian's...

Now for the Rocky thing. Who idolizes Rocky? What because there is a statue of him near the Museum steps that the movie made famous now all of a sudden we idolize the guy? Nice try, but not quite...and as far as the holding cells, they were appropriate because fans of other teams would need to stay there to lilck their wounds after talking too much smack about the Eagles and not being able to back it up with the bicep. Oh yeah...CAPS SUCK, and LET'S GO FLYERS!!!!!

=D

personally, all I need to know about Philly fans is that they boo'd a guy who was being carted off on a stretcher. Yeah, really classy.

(for those of you who don't know, Michael Irvin of the Cowboys was the player)

from wikipedia:

"During the fifth game of the 1999 season, Irvin was tackled hard at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia by Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Tim Hauck, and went head-first into the turf. As Irvin lay motionless on the Veterans Stadium field, his injury was initially greeted with cheers[2] from hostile fans of the rival Philadelphia Eagles, who had grown to despise Irvin and the entire Cowboys organization, but the stadium soon grew quiet when it was realized that the injury was serious. The fans began to boo Deion, who was dancing around the injured player, and this is commonly misconstrued as the fans booing the injured player."

I'll admit Eagles fans are some of the most obnoxious in the NFL, but that doesn't mean everyone from Philly or that has ever cheered for a Philadelphia team is like that. And that statement about people idolizing Rocky is ridiculous.

Thank you very much...at least SOMEONE else in the planet can understand what's going on. Oh, and on the Rocky thing...hey maybe instead of idolizing Rocky we should just idolize Tim Hauck? HAHA...THAT would be classy huh? Come on...

The Rocky bit was just a tongue-in-cheek jab. You just took it too seriously :p.

Regardless, Philly fans come out from the sticks and really need to realize that its a GAME. I know booze + football will have its mess ups and conflicts, as every stadium will have its fights, but Philly is just hostile, obnoxious, downright rude. They will spit, throw things at you, and throw out racist slurs on a dime. Ask Daunte Culpepper or even Donovan McNabb.

Take note of the Novermber 1997 clip.
Enough said...

The empty trophy case hurts... Although to be totally correct you'd have to put in our three NFL Championship trophies. That's right, we won the super bowl BEFORE it was called the super bowl!!

The flare gun is a little over the top... and running a chainsaw in the parking lot??? But come on, Jimmy Johnson getting nailed in the head with a snowball is awesome.

Oh and Philly fans don't live in the sticks, they live in the city. Of Philadelphia. Or maybe the suburbs, but definitely not the sticks. Maybe you're thinking of that OTHER Pennsylvania football team.
